A Prayer

Dear Man Upstairs,

Please let the Cavs come back from a 3-1 series deficit. Please stop the suffering of Cleveland fans. Please save the year 2009 as I am sure the Indians and the Browns will both suck wind. Please look at the guy in this picture and know that he represents loyal, awesome, desperate Cleveland fans everywhere.

Memorial Day Weekend

What a beautiful memorial day weekend! We had lots of fun up at Catawba - it is so beautiful there. Steve headed up on Thursday night and fished all day Friday. Steve's mom and dad took the kids Friday night and I headed up on Friday at about 3 or so.

Heading over on the ferry

We had a bunch of people up for the night and took the ferry over to Put in Bay (PIB) in the early evening. Once again PIB did not disappoint. The best moment of the night was Lebron hitting the 3-pointer to win the Cavs game on Friday night. We were at the Roundhouse and the place went absolutely nuts. It was so much fun.

Yes, Steve is dancing. That should tell you something.

Heading back on the last ferry off the island!

As those of you who have kids know, parenting when you're hungover is comparable to waterboarding. So to alleviate my hangover on Saturday I tried a new tactic - I would hydrate on Friday and rehydrate on Saturday with Pedialyte. Someone told me about it once a long time ago, but I never tried it. I had some time to recover on Saturday, as Steve's parents didn't bring up the kids until noon.

Anyway, it really worked! Or at least I think it did. I was much better off than I expected, certainly much better off than Steve. I also avoided the shot parade, so that may have played a part in my not wanting to die on Saturday. For big nights out, I will definitely use it again.

The kids had lots of fun at Catawba. I got this sink for them and they can play with it for HOURS!! Here are some pics of them from this weekend:

Finale

Last night was Lost’s Season finale. This whole season has been a disappointment. I was not feeling the time travel thing at all. I can’t believe I am writing this – last year at this time I was reeling from the best television finale ever – Lost Season 4. But, I thought last night’s episode was pretty good. It was definitely gratifying to see that Jacob does in fact exist, and what the foot statue looked like at one time. For those of you who don’t watch Lost, I will move on….

Brayden and Curran continue to be the two most entertaining people alive. It kills me how particular they can be about things, especially Brayden. Here are some examples:

  1. Brayden hates spider webs - HATES THEM. If he sees one on the playground, we have to leave immediately. I attempt to knock them all down upon our arrival, but sometimes I miss one and the wheels fall of bus.
  2. Brayden needs his ears cleaned every night. He loves having them cleaned. Very odd.
  3. Brayden's new thing is that when he asks a question he ends it with - Yes or No Mom? I feel like I am being interoggated by the Po Po.
  4. Curran refuses to let you feed her. She must feed herself, preferably with adult utensils.
  5. Curran loves shoes. Set her is a shoe pile and she will entertain herself for hours - score! Her current fave pair are a pair of Cousin Stumpy's winter boots that are about 4 sizes to big.

It seems like Braydo has a lot more anal-retentiveness going on than Curran. I don't know if that's him or if its just because he's older.

The house at Catawba continues to come together. I am so pissed though, we bought bunk beds off of Craigslist and we lost the damn hardware. Hopefully our marriage can survive Steve and I attempting to put the beds together without the original hardware.

This weekend is probably our last weekend where we won't have anything going on. Next weekend (Memorial Day) will be a big one. The kids will be staying back in Cleveland and we are heading over to Put-in-Bay with a bunch of friends, some of which have never been to PIB before. Should be ugly. Stay tuned for photos.

Did you see that Peter King ranked the Browns last in his power rankings for 2009? Great! Being a Browns fan is really a sick, sick codependent relationship. The Indians are also terrible, with the worst record in the league. I guess theoretically its too soon to call the season a flop, but I am going to go ahead and do so. Summer is a little less fun when the tribe sucks.

Here are some older pics of the kids, because I was a dead beat parent and didn't take any this past week.

Curran is about 4 months here - before she became a maniac

Brayden is about as old as Curran is now in this picture. My little dude.

MVP

Photo by John Kuntz/The Plain Dealer

LeBron did it - he is the NBA MVP. He won by a landslide - sorry Kobe (he, he, he). LBJ was awarded the trophy on Monday and I went to the Cavs game on Tuesday night when the commissioner of the NBA presented him the trophy in front of the crowd before the game. You couldn't even hear what the commish was saying because of how loud the crowd was. SOOOO Exciting. They gave out really cool Lebron MVP shirts at the game so that was an extra bonus :).

Last weekend we were up in Catawba and had a wonderful time. May 1 is the official beginning of the season up there, so there were a lot of people up. Steve did a lot of landscaping work and got a mild case of poison ivy. I hung lots of pictures and scrubbed the bathroom. On Friday uncle Chris came up and on Sunday we took the kids to East Harbor State Park, with the thought that they wouldn't get wet if we went to the beach. A tip - it is impossible to take the kids to the beach without them getting soaked. We haven't spent much time at the beach, so I was happy to see the kids both LOVED it. We will spend lots of time there this summer.
