Potty Power and Concerts

Brayden will be 3 in April. He has never, ever once complained or woken due to a soiled or wet diaper. At first I thought - what luck, I must have gotten a very low-maintenance kid. Well that was great for his first 2.5 years, but now he likes his diaper very much and is not very happy about parting ways with it.

My goal is to potty train him (hopefully) over the weekend of Feb 14th. In preparation, I ordered this video "Potty Power" (http://www.amazon.com/Potty-Power-Boys-Girls/dp/B0002B55DO).

It is absolutely hysterical. He really likes it too, so we'll see. For the first time ever I got him to sit on the potty today. I had to bribe him with M&Ms, but hey, it's a start. He sits on the potty once in a while for our wonderful nanny Amy, but for us - no dice. Until today!

Steve and I got tickets for Rock Hall Induction ceremony. On April 4, 2009, the Induction Ceremony will take place in Cleveland for the first time since 1997. Very exciting! I am not particularly huge fans of any of the inductees, but whatever - should be a good time.

I also got tickets for the Fleetwood Mac concert on April 17th. Lindsey Buckingham is my over 50 year-old crush.

Sixteen Months

Sixteen months ago from this day was September 22, 2007. That was the day Curran (aka the Mi Bot) entered our lives. What a fun little girl she is. Today is my friend Kim's daughter's first b-day! Our girls are 4 months apart - Happy Birthday Samantha!!

I thought when I had Curran - "how could I ever love her as much as I love Brayden?" But you do. There are special things about Brayden and Curran that make me love them so much. Here are a few of those special things:

Brayden

  • He is a boy. Not knowing much about little boys before he was born, my relationship with and abundance of love for him has been the most wonderful surprise.
  • He is a total narkie - short for narcoleptic, he isn't really, but man does this kid love to sleep. All those horror stories about kids and not sleeping - not him, not ever!
  • I know everyone thinks he looks like Steve, but he does so many things that remind me of me and my sisters. He loves grape flavored medicine, loves binkies, walked early, etc.
  • He is honestly the funniest person I have ever met. The stuff that comes out of his mouth is insane.

Curran

  • I wanted a girl so badly when I found out I was pregnant with number two. Honestly, the day I found out she was a girl was one of the happiest days of my life. Corny but true. She is a dream come true.
  • She has so many traits uncharacteristic of a girl. She is so aggressive, she hits people, she always is busy and on the go, she won't let you hold her, etc. But then she has such girly qualities too - sits completely still when I put bows in her hair, loves babies, loves her dolls, and talks up a storm.
  • She is also absolutely hilarious and cute as a button.

Lost Returns

I am so pumped for tonight. Eight months has passed since the most amazing season finale ever. Lost is the best show, movie, anything I have ever watched. Can you tell I am a fan?

I'll be heading over to Molly's for her Lost party. I would strongly encourage anyone who doesn't watch Lost to run to Blockbuster and get yourself caught up. You will not be sorry!!

Starting Out

Today is January 20th 2009 - Inauguration Day for Barack Obama, and Inauguration day for my blog!

Let's see, this past Friday our pipes froze. That was a ton of fun. Steve took a blow torch type device to it and - voila - it was fixed. I also picked up my new car after totalling my Honda Accord last week (sniff, sniff, it was a good car). I got a 2006 Acura MDX, here is a pic:

We also went up to Catawba to get things ready for the house. We hung new blinds, ripped up some carpeting and tile and cleaned a bit. We didn't even get to installing the 10+ new light fixtures. At least we have time, summer should be here sometime in July.

Both of the kids are doing wonderfully, they are so good. Well Brayden is very well-behaved, Curran has a slight hitting problem. We went out to a family outing at Applebee's last night and had a good time.
