Christmas in July Recap

Yet again, Put-in-Bay was completely insane. My girls weekend was lots of fun and full of drama.

Friday night was very low-key, but interesting. Julie and Lindy came up and we went to Mon Ami, the local winery, for dinner and a couple of glasses of wine. On Saturday, everyone began to arrive and we had a couple of drinks. Then we took the 3:30 ferry over to begin the insanity.

We started of at Mr. Ed's before quickly moving on to Frosty's. Frosty's was tons of fun and that's where things really started to escalate. Lots of drinks, shots, cherries soaked in liquor, etc.

Then we decided to head over to the Roundhouse Bar, which is my favorite.

Things got very very ugly there. We lost one of our crew there, who pulled a Melissa on St. Patty's and passed out on the potty. Things got so bad for this member of the crew that the Roundhouse staff mobillized and rescued her from the bathroom, gave her a new shirt, a quick wipedown and shuttled us to the ferry. Put-in-Bay was so happy to have us off their island that they didn't even take our tickets for the return trip to Catawba. One third of our crew was passed out on the ferry back. The guilty parties shall remain nameless.

By the way, our first drink in the island was at 4:15. We were on the 8:30 ferry back.

The insanity continued back on the mainland. Some of the crew headed to the local bar, others needed to go home. I will leave it at that.

And now, without further ado, the awards of the 2009 Christmas in July Shitshow:

Brayden Plays Barber

So on Monday, Brayden got hold of the cooking shears and sheared his own hair. He also took a lock off of Curran too, but with her mop you can't even tell. See pics below.

Confession

This weekend I may have done one of the grossest things I have ever done. I was going to qualify that with "the grossest things I have done as a mother", but on second thought it is one of the grossest things I have ever done.... period.

Curran tends to be a tiny bit constipated. It's probably because she drinks a half gallon of milk a day. So, without getting too graphic, she tends to be a little "firmer" than, say, Brayden who has always shit like a goose.

On Saturday we went to the playground up on Catawba. I looked over at Curran and saw that she looked like she was growing a tail. Turns out she had a poo pebble in her diaper. At first I thought - I'll just wait until we get home and change her. Much like Brayden, she could sit in shit for hours and not bat an eyelash. Well, then the playground got crowded with parents and kids and the smell of Curran was disrupting others. Once I saw another parent make a face when they got close to her, I knew something needed to be done.

I had no diapers, but I did have a wipe with me. So I took Curran behind a fence, reached into her diaper with the wipe and pulled out the sizable poo stone. I then took the poo and threw it into the field behind the playground. I was so stealth Steve didn't even notice. Gross? Yes. Necessary? I think so. Lots of hand sanitizer used? Absolutely.

Like I mentioned, we were up at Catawba this weekend (as we usually are). Since it was only 68 or something ridiculous on Saturday, we took the kids put-putting. They had lots of fun. We also took them on go-carts, which they both loved. This weekend is my girls weekend at the house and should be lots of fun. Probably not as ridiculous as Steve's weekend, but lots of fun I am sure. Here are some pics from the last week:

***You may have noticed that there aren't as many pictures lately of Brayden as there are of Curran. This isn't because I love Curran more. In fact, I often contemplate taking her back to Fairview Hospital. Brayden has decided that he is on a photo strike and will only let me take a picture of him if I bribe him with Tootsie Roll pops and/or popcorn***

Here's the dude, showing off his new haircut and his animal pajamas. Yes, it's July, but I keep the house at 68 at night. Oh, and I am holding a bowl of Pop Secret as I take this.

Back to Reality

We're back from a fun week in Catawba. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, it didn't rain once the entire time we were there. Steve had a guys only weekend this past weekend, so the kids and I came back on Friday. Steve was a big POS all day yesterday and pretty much felt like crap from his hard partying weekend. I was not very sympathetic:)

Our friends Stu and Sara came up, as well as Aunt Sue and my dad and Steve's parents. We had a steady stream of visitors, but that makes it tons of fun. We went over to Put in Bay on the 3rd and had a great time. We also got a sitter one night and went to dinner and Sandusky and saw "The Hangover" - it was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard at a movie.

Stu also introduced us to a new drink that is awesome - its sweet tea vodka and lemonade. OMG - it is sooooo good. Here's a link to the vodka, I'd never heard of it before: http://www.fireflyvodka.com. I tried to make it "healthier" by drinking it with light lemonade. You can't even tell it has alcohol in it - it's the perfect summer drink!

Tank escaped while we were up in Catawba. We didn't even realize it and were out on the golf cart when the Catawba Island Township PD called. Tank still had the 30 foot leash that he was tied to the tree with around him, so he was pretty conspicuous. The cop was nice enough to bring him home, leash and all in his police cruiser.

I had a fun Saturday with the kids while Steve was up at his guys weekend. I went out to get in the car for my diet coke run that morning and found that my car battery was dead. This is the 3rd time this has happened in past couple of months. My back door sticks and if I forget to slam it the door doesn't close all the way and the light stays on, draining the battery.

The last time I tried to jump my car I didn't do it right and melted my jumper cables. So I had to call my dad to come out and help me. Then, Brayden locked Curran in his room in the dark and she was FREAKING OUT. It took me like 15 minutes to get her out and when I finally found her she was on B's bed with the covers over her head. This all happened between 7-8am. Good times! Here are some pics from the last week:

Brayden has zero interest in toys. ZERO. However, if you give him some sort of adult electronic or power device, he is as happy as a clam. See evidence below:

Curran loves laying on her stomach. Her latest thing is to lay on her stomach when I want her to walk, say at a store or in a parking lot.

Off to Vacation

Tomorrow we leave to spend the next week on Catawba. How exciting! Steve is on vacation next week, so he will be there too. Nothing too crazy on the agenda, just hanging out with family and friends. After an entire week of rain and temps in the 60s, the 10 day forecast looks amazing - sunny and 75 everyday!!!

In one bit of happy Cleveland news, Shaq is now a Cleveland Cavalier. That should be able to sustain me until November. We went to an Indians game on Tuesday and it was no fun at all. Four run 1st inning by Chicago and a rain delay - yuck. Here are 2 pictures from this last week. I will take lots of pictures and post them next week when we get back. Happy Fourth of July!!!

Here's Curran playing with a traffic cone she found on the highway. Just kidding.
